Adblock Detector – How to Set Up and Use the AriseAds Ad Block Detector

The Adblock Detector module helps you communicate with visitors who are using ad-blocking software. When it detects an ad blocker, it can display a customizable message encouraging them to disable their ad blocker for your site, helping you recover potential ad revenue.

Accessing Adblock Detector Settings

 1. Navigate to the AriseAds menu in your WordPress admin dashboard.
 2. Click on “Adblock Detector” in the AriseAds submenu. This will take you to the module’s settings page.

Configuring the Adblock Detector

The settings are organized into collapsible sections:

Content Settings

This section allows you to customize what the visitor sees when an ad blocker is detected.

Title: Enter the heading for the notification message (e.g., “Ad Blocker Detected,” “Please Support Us”).

Logo:

 • You can upload or select a logo from your media library to be displayed above the title in the notification.
 • Click “Select Logo” to open the media library.
 • A preview of the selected logo will be shown. Click “Remove Logo” if you wish to remove it.
 • Recommended size: 200x100px.

Content:

 • Use the rich text editor to write the main message you want to show to users. Explain why you show ads and encourage them to whitelist your site.
 • You can use formatting (bold, italics, links) and insert shortcodes if needed.
 • Default:
We noticed you're using an ad blocker. We rely on advertising to help fund our site. Please consider supporting us by disabling your ad blocker.

Allow Close:

 • Check this box if you want to give users the option to close the notification (usually via an “X” icon).
 • If unchecked, the notification will be more persistent.
 • Default: Enabled (checked).

Reload Button Text:

 • Enter the text for the button that users can click after (hopefully) disabling their ad blocker (e.g., “I’ve Disabled Adblock,” “Refresh Page”).
 • If you leave this field empty, the button will not be displayed.
 • Important Note: If “Allow Close” (above) is enabled, this button will simply close the notification instead of attempting to reload the page. If “Allow Close” is disabled, clicking this button will try to reload the page.
 • Default: I've Disabled Adblock

Blur Background:

 • Check this box to blur the rest of the page content behind the notification modal, drawing more attention to your message.
 • Default: Enabled (checked).

Disable Scroll:

 • Check this box to prevent users from scrolling the page while the adblock notification is visible.
 • Default: Disabled (unchecked).

Style Settings

Customize the appearance of the notification modal and its button.

Modal Background Color: Choose the background color for the notification box.

Text Color: Choose the color for the text (title and content) within the notification.

Border Color: Choose the color for the border around the notification box.

Button Background Color: Choose the background color for the reload/close button.

Button Text Color: Choose the text color for the reload/close button.

Button Border Color: Choose the border color for the reload/close button.

Defaults for colors are generally inherited from AriseAds global styles or common web defaults.

Visibility Settings

Control where and for whom the adblock detection message appears.

Show on specific page types: Check the boxes for the types of pages where you want the detector to be active.

Hide on Devices: Choose to disable the adblock detector on specific device types:

 • Select the devices where you do not want the notification to appear.
 • Default: None are selected (meaning it shows on all devices).

Hide for Logged-in Users: Check this box to prevent the adblock notification from appearing for any user who is logged into your WordPress site. Default: Enabled (checked).

Hide for specific User Roles:

 • If “Hide for Logged-in Users” is checked, you can further refine this.
 • Select user roles (e.g., Administrator, Editor, Author) for whom the adblock detection should be disabled. Users with other roles (or subscribers, if not selected) will still see the notification if they are logged in and using an ad blocker (unless “Hide for Logged-in Users” globally prevents it for all logged-in users).
 • Default: Administrator, Editor are usually selected.

Saving Your Settings

After making any changes to these settings, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “Save Settings” (or similar) button to apply them.

By configuring these options carefully, you can create a polite and effective way to ask users to support your site by whitelisting it in their ad blocker software.
